GAP Remains Open for Outdoor Recreation and Adventure

The Great Allegheny Passage is open and ready for your visit! Rest at one of the burbling waterfalls in Ohiopyle State Park. Pick up some maple syrup out near Meyersdale, Pennsylvania. Enjoy some solitude near Helmstetter’s Curve in the mountains of Maryland.

The Big Savage Tunnel will open as scheduled on Friday, March 20!

While Governors Wolf and Hogan have authorized closures of nonessential businesses in Pennsylvania and Maryland, respectively, many restaurants have pivoted to pick-up and delivery service. Our trail town small businesses desire to serve you on your trip -- we recommend calling ahead to verify hours.

Ohiopyle State Park is open for recreation on the GAP and hiking trails, although the visitor center is closed. The West Newton Visitor Center is closed out of an abundance of caution, as well.

Amtrak's Capitol Limited continues to operate on its normal daily schedule among Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Washington, D.C., with all stops along the way making for easy return trips.
