At least nine cars carrying coal derailed from a CSX train near the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Market Street in McKeesport, near the municipal building, about 12:30 Wednesday afternoon.
CSX spokesman Rob Doolittle said in a statement there were no injuries and CSX personnel are responding to the scene "to assess the situation and develop a plan to rerail the cars."
Mr. Doolittle said the train was traveling from Graffton, W.Va., to Monaca, Beaver County, when the incident occurred. The train has two locomotives and 126 cars total, all of which are carrying coal.
